Father's Day Essentials

Men get a raw deal when it comes to skincare. They're marketed such nonsense, usually in black packaging similar to that well known body spray you pick up in petrol station. There's absolutely no reason that skincare should be gendered. That's not to say that men and women may face different skin issues.

Due to higher testosterone levels, men's skin can be up to 25% thicker than women's. The lucky devils also have more collagen than women. They're said to age better, though a lot of this is down to societal expectations - lines on a man's face are distinguished, whereas many women seek products to prevent or reduce visible ageing, particularly around the eyes and mouth.

Whether the men in your life have a 15 lotion that's been sat on the shelf for a decade, or he knows the difference between a toner and a serum, we have the thing for him.

Keep it simple - Cleanse, Treat, Sunscreen

I would lean towards a cleanser that will lightly exfoliate. Men's skin, because it's thicker and oilier, dead skin can build up more easily. If shaving, a light exfoliant will lift hair and remove debris that can cause ingrown hairs. With the top layer of dead skin removed, moisturisers and other products can penetrate more effectively and work better.

Pyunkang Yul Calming Low pH Foaming Cleanser 150ml contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) for gentle exfoliation as well as a blend of sebum-controlling, plant-based ingredients to deliver an oil-free finish.

Next step is to treat whatever ails him - enlarged pores and skin inflammation? Go for Beauty of Joseon Glow Serum

Skin a bit stressed from skin from free radical damage caused by environmental stressors like pollution and the sun? Bring out the big guns with Ishtar SK C60 Booster Serum This is packed with antioxidants to fight the free radicals caused by these stressors. One of these antioxidants contain anti-inflammatory properties that helps reduce redness and swelling too.

Lastly, I would use a moisturising sunscreen so he can cut out the extra step. I highly recommend Altruist Face Fluid. It's incredibly priced, full of antioxidant and high sun protection, as well as being moisturising, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (non-pore blocking).

No need for 12-step routines or products that smell like motor oil. With the right cleanser, a smart serum, and a sunscreen that actually feels good to wear, he’s good to glow. Skincare isn’t just for the girls—and great skin never went out of style.
